The sailing: what one evening aboard can and cannot tell you

A single evening on the water gives you the shape of a cruise — how boarding works, how the crew behaves when the boat is full, what the room or deck feels like once you are underway. It tells you what the light does at that hour and whether the route matches what passengers describe in their reviews.

It cannot tell you everything. Weather on your date may differ from ours. A special-event sailing carries a different crowd than a quiet weekday. The operator may have changed something since our visit — a layout, a menu item, a member of staff.

We write what we observed on the evening we sailed, and we say so plainly. A review here is a snapshot, not a contract about your visit.

Reading the real reviews: how we weigh what passengers say against what we saw

Every passenger quote on our review pages is reproduced word for word from what that person published on a public review platform. We do not edit, merge or tidy those quotes. They sit alongside our editorial account so you can compare.

When passengers agree — on crew attentiveness, on deck space, on how organised boarding felt — we note that alignment. When they disagree, we say so without picking a winner. One person's yacht is another person's ferry; our job is to describe the trade-off, not resolve it.

Reviews that mention positioning, crowding or timing get weight because those variables change evening to evening. Reviews that praise food or service describe patterns we can often confirm from our own sailing.

Facts we will not print — fares, timetables, capacities and anything else we cannot verify

If a fact is not in our verified data or in what passengers wrote publicly, it does not appear on this site. That includes fares, departure times, return times, seat counts, vessel length, crew numbers, opening years and awards.

Inventing any of those would be stating something false about a real business. A gap in our page is honest; a confident sentence about a detail we cannot verify is not.

Corrections: how to tell us an operator has changed something, and what happens then

We verify what we can and update the page. Factual corrections are made promptly; editorial opinions stand unless new information genuinely changes what we would write.
